The Beginning of the Circle
After the death of Taube Diamond in 1922, Hascal lived with
Morris and Rae Shachat.
The family often visited Hascal at Morris and Rae's house.
In Edith Spindel's words, Hascal was "a shining star".

When the leaves fall
And when we go
The circle should remain
Standing as a monument
- Nathan Leibowitz - circa 1934
After Hascal's death in 1934, and mindfull of Taube and Hascal's wish
for the family to remain close, it was proposed that the family
should continue to meet regularly.
The Diamond Family Circle was formed.
They got together once a month for trips, picnics and parties.
Inspired by this success, a spin-off, the cousins' club was
later created.
